Inquiring minds want to know

Until July 12, 2012, gossip on Hamm’s personal life is non-existent. Then bam! gossip columnist Lainey runs a blind item on Hamm and the Hammburglar:

Then today, August 15, 2012, a blind item in The National Inquirer asks:

“Which handsome cable TV star refuses to marry his long-term girlfriend – whom he really does love – even after she gave him an ultimatum? The hunky actor just isn’t the marrying type – he’d rather booze it up, hang with his buddies and concentrate on his career, rather than settle down! Who is he?”

The dubious nature of gossip, in general, aside, what are the chances the Hammburglar or someone in her camp fed Lainey the item in order to persuade Hamm, through public outing, to marry her? Clearly, it’s backfired as it’s stated here that Hamm won’t marry her.

Upon first reading the Lainey item, I asked myself, “Who benefits from this information?” Clearly, the Hammburglar does. And in the NI item, which sounds like a response to Lainey’s item, Hamm does.

In the near future, I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear news on the dissolution of their relationship.
